DETROIT (AP) — The U.S. authorities’s freeway security company has opened one other investigation of automated driving programs, this time into crashes involving Waymo’s self-driving autos.
The Nationwide Freeway Visitors Security Administration posted documents detailing the probe on its web site early Tuesday after getting 22 reviews of Waymo autos both crashing or doing one thing which will have violated site visitors legal guidelines.
Previously month, the company has opened a minimum of 4 investigations of autos that may both drive themselves or tackle a minimum of some driving capabilities because it seems to be getting extra aggressive in regulating the units.
Within the probe of Waymo, which was as soon as Google’s self-driving car unit, the company mentioned it has reviews of 17 crashes and 5 different reviews of doable site visitors regulation violations. No accidents have been reported.
Within the crashes, the Waymo autos hit stationary objects similar to gates, chains or parked autos. A number of the incidents occurred shortly after the Waymo driving system behaved unexpectedly close to site visitors management units, in keeping with the paperwork.
