Ontario to purchase police helicopters to assist battle auto theft

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – Ontario Premier Doug Ford says his authorities will buy five police helicopters relatively than lease them.

The price can be about $100 million greater than what the province’s funds in March allotted to lease 4 choppers.

The province initially stated it might lease 4 police helicopters for the Toronto space for $36 million, plus $10 million to function.

Ford says police providers requested the province to purchase relatively than buy them.

The 5 choppers can be utilized in Ottawa, Toronto and by the police forces in Durham, Halton and Peel areas.

The province says the helicopters can be used to assist battle automobile jackings, auto theft, avenue racing and impaired driving.
