Commissioner Kathleen Birrane, Maryland Insurance coverage Administration, on April 22, 2024 issued Bulletin No. 24-11, The Use of Synthetic Intelligence Programs in Insurance coverage (the “Bulletin”). The Bulletin applies to “all Insurers, Nonprofit Well being Service Plans, Well being Upkeep Organizations, and Dental Plan Organizations.” The Bulletin follows almost verbatim the NAIC Mannequin Bulletin: Use of Synthetic Intelligence Programs by Insurers (“NAIC AI Bulletin”). Commissioner Birrane is the Chair of the NAIC Innovation, Cyber Safety, and Expertise (H) Committee, which is the committee that developed the NAIC AI Bulletin.
