Fireworks have been recognized as the reason for the wildfire burning in New Jersey’s Wharton State Forest.
The fireplace, which has burned greater than 4,000 acres, was 75% contained by Sunday, officers stated.
The New Jersey Forest Fireplace Service reported {that a} “fireworks gadget lighted contained in the forest ignited the hearth” late Thursday, July 4. The fireplace, named the Tea Time Hill Wildfire, was found shortly after 9 a.m. the next day.
No constructions have been threatened by the hearth and no evacuations have been ordered. A number of mountaineering trails and close by roads have been closed.
