A development firm was fined greater than $430,000 for California labor violations that resulted in unpaid wages, additional time and different violations.
The state’s Labor Commissioner’s Workplace secured the settlement to return unpaid wages and damages to 86 carpenters employed by the Howood Firm Inc. on development tasks in San Diego and San Bernardino counties.
The fines got to Howood Firm, the overall contractor, and two different employers, Wermers Multi-Household Corp. and JPI California Development LLC, for a number of labor violations.
The LCO began an investigation when a grievance was obtained from the Carpenters/Contractors Cooperation Committee Inc. It was reported that a number of employees had not obtained their owed wages, whereas different complaints of wage theft have been made on two extra development tasks involving Howood.
After the investigations, citations have been issued for labor violations in any respect three tasks. Howood reportedly didn’t pay its employees for a number of weeks on the next tasks:
- 1600 Orange Ave, Redlands
- 4354-4364 Twain Ave, San Diego
- 1509-1521 Broadway, San Diego, CA 92101
