Zurich North America appointed Tobias “Toby” Cushing to the newly created function of deputy chief underwriting officer. Cushing beforehand served as casualty technical director.
In his new function, Cushing is answerable for supporting Zurich North America’s underwriters throughout all traces of enterprise, together with property, casualty, specialty traces, extra and surplus and crop insurance coverage.
Cushing, who is predicated out of Zurich’s New York Metropolis Workplaces, joined Zurich as head of development Casualty in 2022. Since becoming a member of, he has held a number of underwriting management roles of accelerating duty. Previous to becoming a member of, Cushing held a wide range of roles at The Hartford, together with serving as head of development for center and enormous business.
Earlier in his profession Cushing practiced regulation as an insurance coverage protection litigator and advisor for advanced insurance coverage transactions.
